Located where Solna and Sundbyberg meet, Origo is a newly built office building inspired by the world of hotels, developed by Humlegården Fastigheter. “We have placed special emphasis on the atmosphere, with lighting playing a key role in shaping the experience of the space and enhancing the well-being both of visitors and of those who work there,” says Jens Folkesson, Director of Asset management and Leasing at Humlegården.
For Origo, Humlegården chose luminaires with integrated sensors – the Organic Response system from Fagerhult, representing the next generation of smart lighting. “We want to be at the technological forefront and believe Fagerhult is a great fit with its product range and way of working. Efficient operation provides optimal light for our customers and keeps energy consumption down,” says Mattias Dahlberg, Technical Manager at Humlegården.
The flexibility of the smart wireless system is a clear advantage for both tenants and property owners. Spaces can be adapted and reconfigured without the need for rebuilding or new cabling, supporting evolving ways of working. The system also collects presence data, providing valuable insights into how different areas are used and enabling data-driven decisions for optimising the premises. For example, a rarely used meeting room can be repurposed as a workspace as the organisation grows. There are also opportunities to integrate the lighting solution with other building technology systems, such as ventilation, for even greater efficiency.
Origo’s design draws inspiration from the hospitality sector, with generous communal areas and a service level that puts people first. “We wanted to create a workplace where people genuinely want to be, a place that offers everything for every part of the workday,” Jens explains. “Lighting was key to making the environment both dynamic and inviting, supporting creativity, focus, and collaboration.”
Sustainability, flexibility, and user experience are woven into every aspect of Origo. The lighting adapts to natural daylight and occupancy, supporting well-being throughout the day. “Human-centric lighting is one of our most important priorities,” Jens emphasizes. “We’ve worked hard to create environments that offer a positive experience and can evolve over time.”
With Origo, Fagerhult and Humlegården demonstrate how smart lighting is no longer a separate discipline, but an integral part of sustainable, adaptable office architecture—empowering people and businesses to thrive.
